I well remember 23 years ago coming in from a local football match and asking my mother, who had the television on, “what the heck is going on here” as it looked like a surreal pitch invasion at Hillsborough. The reality soon became clear and the horror of those scenes where 96 football fans died is still etched in my memory. I hope every last ounce of compensation, bringing to task and apologies are sought and given to those families with their helpers and representatives who have had to wait all these years for the injustice in this debacle to become official. Hopefully closure on this can now begin for the families of the lost loved one’s. The appalling lack of ability to enable representation of the ordinary public to be heard on a fair basis compared to that of the police, press and other government systems enabled justified claims to be denounced.
